Ninety Percent: The Math of Fair Pay

Three Green Records built a tipping platform where artists keep 90% — here is why that number matters.

Streaming payouts are famously thin — fractions of a cent per play, divided further by labels and distributors. A working independent artist can accumulate hundreds of thousands of streams and still not cover a month of rent.

Three Green Records attacks the problem from the direct-support side. The platform consolidates an artist's Spotify, SoundCloud, and Bandcamp presence in one place, then gives fans a single, simple action: tip the artist directly. The artist keeps ninety percent.

Compare the economics. A ten-dollar tip at ninety percent puts nine dollars in the artist's hands — roughly the payout of several thousand streams, delivered in one gesture by one fan who meant it.

The 'independent artist league' framing matters too. Artists on the platform are peers, not content inventory. Fair pay is not a promotion here; it is the product.
